ASSIST’s first international field office was opened in Esmeraldas, Ecuador in 2011.

While the rest of Ecuador enjoys royalties from the vast oil production facilities in the east, this coastal region that borders Columbia has the largest non-European population in the country, the highest crime rate, and greatest social and economic need. The United Nations indicated Esmeraldas is the poorest province in South America.

ASSIST works in both the urban and rural areas of Esmeraldas with programs in:

• Sustainable agriculture
• Sustainable energy
• Water and sanitation
• Small business development
• Adult education.

ASSIST’s annual fundraising goal for our Ecuador program is $350,000. If you wish to provide financial support or contribute in another manner to ASSIST’s Ecuador program, please click here.
